Lt. Col Dr Barbara McCormick is a dedicated public servant with a deep commitment to her community and country. She aspires to represent the 4th Legislative District in the New Jersey General Assembly in Trenton. A lifelong Republican, Barbara has been an active member of the Washington Township GOP since 2019 and has served as a poll worker since 2020, playing a crucial role in the Board of Elections by counting paper ballots.

Barbara's career spans over 30 years in nursing, during which she has taken on various roles in leadership, education, and research. She has an extensive background, including a nurse internship in Washington DC, and is currently employed part-time in the civilian sector. Barbara plans to retire from her military nursing career by the end of 2025 – freeing up time to focus on serving in NJ Assembly.

Barbara has been a Critical care / Emergency department resource nurse for Jefferson Health NJ. Provided direct patient care for neuroscience, critical care, and emergency department patients in a comprehensive stroke center. Additional roles included special projects for Chief Nursing Officer. Developed Retired Nurse Emeritus program, Dedicated Education Unit with Jefferson College of Nursing, and other research initiatives. NJ Professional Development Council Past Chair. Nurse researcher and Nurse educator for multiple institutions.

Barbara was a professor of nursing at Rutgers University, Camden, NJ Adjunct clinical faculty for Accelerated BSN Program. Supervises senior accelerated bachelor in science (ABSN) nursing students at Jefferson Health Washington Township and Cooper University in specialty units including neuroscience, critical care, trauma, and the emergency department.

Barbara commissioned in the US Air Force Reserve Nurse Corp in September of 1994 as a 2nd Lieutenant and is now a Lieutenant Colonel and the executive officer for the 166th Medical Group, Delaware Air National Guard (DANG), New Castle Airport.
Lieutenant Colonel, United States Air Force Reserves Nurse Corps, Chief Nurse, 514 Aerospace Medicine Squadron, Joint Base McGuire/Dix/Lakehurst, NJ. Responsible for physical exam process for 514th Air Mobility Wing. Manages occupational health, immunizations, and flight medicine components for 2200 reserve members. TeamSTEPPS Master Trainer and responsible for Patient Safety Program. Provides unit education and briefings for suicide prevention and response
In 2001, Barbara was called to active duty following September 11th and deployed as a Critical Care Transport Nurse for Operation Enduring Freedom.
In 2010 she again deployed in support of Enduring Freedom and Iraqi Freedom with the 332nd Expeditionary Medical Group, Contingency Aerospace Medicine Facility, Joint Base Balad, Iraq.
Barbara was called to active duty from June through December 2021 with the DANG to support Delaware’s Public Health Department.
Lieutenant Colonel, United States Air National Guard Chief Nurse Executive for the 166th Medical Group, Newcastle Airport, DE. Called to active duty in June 2021 to support Delaware Public Health Department’s Chair. Walter Reed National Military Medical Center liaison for education and training to ensure Air Force medics are clinically proficient. National Guard Bureau Subject Matter Expert for En-Route care and patient safety. Officer in charge during disaster exercises in Anchorage, AK and Dover, DE.
